Happy summer, Ankeny High School Trap Team Athletes / Parents / Volunteers / Coaches!

NOTE: New for this year, Southview Middle school is the starting point.

We will be participating in the Summerfest Parade on Saturday, July 13th. We will be pulling the team trailer as our float to help with promoting our team. The theme of this year’s parade is Get Your Giddy Up.

We are asking for a few adults to walk along the parade route along with athletes, the parents will be handling any minor challenges that arise, etc.

The parade route is between 2.5 – 3 miles long, so wear comfy shoes and bring a bottle of water. Athletes are more than welcome to wear their shooting vests, but your team shirt is also OK to wear. If an athlete has won medals over the years, this would be a great time to wear them. Obviously, shotguns will not be allowed. Staging will begin at approximately 8:00am at Southview Middle School. Parade ends at Northview Middle school.

We are also asking for donations of bags of candy to pass out to the kids along the parade route. Any type of bulk candy donated is Ok.

For donations before parade day please find Susan at practice or take the donation to her house at 409 se 5th in Ankeny. For donations on parade day
there will be someone from our team at kum n go across from high school at 730a-8am sharp. If anyone needs to donate after that time please call or text to meet one of us at southview by front door parking lot .

Here are some of the parade rules:
No throwing of candy or other objects from the parade vehicle will be allowed. Walkers may hand out the candy or items along the parade route. Candy throwing has presented a safety hazard and hindered the steady procession of floats. No water paraphernalia such as water guns, super soakers, hoses, etc. will be allowed.

<<<<< Questions that have been asked>>>>>>

3) Are we going to decorate the float?
