Ankeny Trap Team – Fall Season Newsletter
October 19, 2025
What a season it has been! It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the end, but we have so much to celebrate and a few important events still on the horizon. Thank you to all our athletes, parents, and supporters for making this year a success.
Final Meet Success at High Lakes!
This past weekend, our athletes traveled to High Lakes for the final planned meet of the season, and their hard work paid off.
Congratulations goes out to:
• Eli Feldman, for shooting his first 25 straight! An incredible achievement.
• Kaigan McGill, for placing third in handicap for the intermediate entry division.
Great job to everyone who competed!
Last Practice of the Year: Fun & Games!
Join us for our final team practice of the 2025 season this Monday, October 20th. We’ll run our regular rounds with coaching, and then cap off the night with some fun, including a hat shoot(Eli’s first 25 straight), Annie Oakleys, and other shooting games. DON’T FORGET TO BRING ANY REMAINING PLEDGE DOLLARS FOR OUR FALL FUNDRAISING SHOOT.
Upcoming Events & Fundraisers
Even though the season is ending, we have several important commitments and fundraising opportunities in the coming months. Your participation is crucial for the team’s continued success!
• Annual Steak Night: This Thursday, October 23rd. This is a fantastic event to benefit the team. If you haven’t already, please sign up via Sign-Up Genius to volunteer as servers. We need the rest of the team to bring as many friends and family as you can!
• Grocery Sacking at Hy-Vee: We have two dates secured to sack groceries for donations. These are historically great fundraisers for us. We will need multiple volunteers for each 4-hour shift.
o Wednesday, November 22nd (12:00 PM – 4:00 PM at North Ankeny Hy-Vee)
o Monday, December 22nd (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at North Ankeny Hy-Vee)
Please keep an eye on the team app for these events. Tickets and sign-ups will be added soon.
Important Reminders & Off-Season
• Skeet Athletes: Please settle your final tickets for the season to ensure all round fees are paid. This allows us to pay our dues to Butch Olafson in a timely manner.
• Stay Connected: Keep an eye on the app over the winter. We will post any last-minute opportunities and keep communications open.
• Keep Practicing: Don’t let your skills get rusty! Ankeny Ikes hosts open trap on Tuesday evenings. At home, continue to practice gun mounts and be sure to keep your firearm clean and stored in a safe location.
See you tomorrow night.
