9/21/25
It was a busy week for the team. First thanks to Wrigly Parks, Gracie Ball, and Derek Pross for working our HY Vee Steak Night. Also, I want to thank the Kemp Family, they worked shifts at the state fair and designated the team as a beneficiary for their shifts. This reminds me, for those who work John Deere or other companies, there may be similar philanthropic programs. The team works multiple avenues for fund raising. These include annual contributions to our midway account. This allows us to request funds in the form of a grant each season and is a major component of our budget. As a part of this effort, we sent our “Rookie” Squad to a Midway Day of Clays. All funds generated from this fundraiser were matched 1 for 1.
The team also has a squad that participate in a sporting clays event in Ackley. It was a perfect morning to shoot with cloud cover and no wind and a unique course. They represented the team very well and scores are now posted in shot.
Along these lines, each team member should have picked up a fall fundraiser form for October 6th. Forms can be found at:

Each team member is expected to participate in the evenings event. This is set up as a meet in SHOT so other teams will participate. The requirement for participation is obtaining 5 sponsors instead of a fee. The night will conclude with a team/participant Annie Oakly, this does have a $20 per person entrance fee. The night is scheduled for a full moon and will load the houses with a mixed bag of different colored targets.
The only tickets due this week are for the skeet teams practice last Thursday.’’Up coming events are a developing meet for skeet on 10/2. There will be no tickets for the Oct 6 event. Although this is our regular practice night, you are required to bring sponsors to participate – not a regular practice.
For practice tomorrow, Coach Binns will be in charge Im out of town and not sure I will be back in time. Watch the team app as the weather may be an issue. New Athletes report to house 4 and bring at least 2 boxes of ammo. I encourage all to work on their skills by asking for one on one sessions to improve your skills. There will be no skeet practice this Thursday; we don’t have a coach available.
Lastly, coaches check the calendar for the SCTP coaches conference on Jan 31. This meeting will outline the spring season and provide an opportunity for coach development.
