7/19/25 News and Notes – Nationals Wrap Up.
News and notes are a little early this week, as we will be traveling all day tomorrow. We wrap up Nationals with 3rd place team in Handicap – Ethan Skow, Jake Madsen, Austin Norstrud, Morgan Ray, and Max Tyler. Then 5th place in the high school division for singles: Ethan Skow, Nick Kelchen, Austin Norstrud, Jake Madsen, and Max Tyler. Then there is the annual Annie Oakly, for the past 5 years we have had a Hawk in the top 10, with Oliver Aldrich taking 3rd. We competed against some of the best shooters in the nation and held our own. Other placements were close, but we were just out of contention. When you look through high scores, you will find a lot of people from Iowa. In other words, realistically we compete against some of the best shooters an a routine basis.
Friday, 7/25 will be the last practice of the year. No regular rounds. We will cover team achievements from Regionals to state. For those who have that hardware at home please bring it. We will also do team awards: Top Shot, Most Improved, and Rookie of the year. There are 3 vests to present and 2 hats to shoot. We will conclude the night with Annie Oakly. Start Time 6PM.
This will be the last official practice of the year. Next falls season is yet to be determined – keep an eye on the app.
I have also posted a few events on the calendar:
First is Ikes Trap League. This is a limited offering and is more on the Ikes. It runs 4 firday nights in august. If you sign up you should plan on attending all. See the ticket for more details
Sept 6 we have 2 events. 200 target sporting clays at Highland Hideaway in Iowa City. This is a joint meet with COE College
The same day is the Simpson High School Show Case. This is a 50 target event, in multiple disciplines. College coaches are present. More details can be found in the ticket.
Lastly, I want to Thank: Amber Ray, Ivy Taminga, Lon Wadle and Adrian Webb for taking on our responsibilities for Hy Vee Steak Night
See everyone Friday
