It’s a little hard to believe, but with Regionals in the rear view mirror, the season is nearly over. I saw a lot of very positive things this weekend outside of some very good scores. Athletes kept positive attitudes shooting in cold and windy conditions, and even played around in the water as they were shooting handicap. On Sunday with sporting clays these positive features continued as athletes communicated with each other to identify different approaches for different targets and helped each other to be more competitive. One feature I started early on was to identify athletes who placed in competition. When there are one or two this is achievable in news and notes, but as the season gets rolling and our shooters start to improve – it would take a couple of pages. Instead, Ill put out a special news and note from the results tab for everyone to see. For all the athletes who attended Regionals – Please thank Coach Fischer, he set aside his personal time to come support and assist the team at Stockdale.
As I mentioned the season is reaching its peak, as a result there are several tickets that will close and open. Read each one closely as there are some particular details with each ticket this week.

Tickets Closing 6pm on Tuesday
5/3/25 Jags Shark Meet at Stockdale. The Jags Coach said she would work with us to get the prom kids on the road as soon as possible. The hold up will be doubles fields, typically there are only so many. I cannot make any promises, but we will do our best. Meet earliest start time: 9AM

Ankeny Ikes May ATA Meet 100 singles only. I ve held afternoon spots in this competition. There is a limit, so first come first serve on tickets

Tickets Opening
State Sporting Clays. This is an interest ticket only at this point, The event is June 12-14 at Highland Hideaway in Riverside Iowa. We would shoot 100 targets one day, then turn around and shoot a second 100 on the next. 200 target event and fee will be $170. This and state skeet have a different registration system. They open at 8am on a certain date. Last year all the slots were taken in less than 15 minutes.

State Skeet June 18-24. 150 target event with 75 in the morning and 75 in the afternoon. Again this is an interest only at this point. Once I secure the slots, Ill turn it to a fee ticket.

5/10/25 2 events at 2 different locations. Ive chosen to split the team based on available competitions. I will reserve the right to limit these opportunities based on coaches.
Cedar Falls SR100 will be a 100 target singles only event at the state trap grounds in Cedar Falls.

5/10/25 Pella Black Oak Clays 100 Target Sporting Clays –
5/10/25 Pella Black Oak 50 Skeet. Timing will be close, but we should be able to shoot sporting clays then skeet

5/10/25 Coaches ticket – This is a no fee ticket Please take one or two selections depending on your availability for this day to cover the events.

5/6/25 Waukee interest ticket. This is a dual with the Clay Crushers that we are still developing. We will likely shoot skeet and one other event. At this time I anticipate 50 targets each event

5/20/25 Waukee interest ticket. This is a dual with the Clay Crushers that we are still developing. We will likely shoot skeet and one other event. At this time I anticipate 50 targets each event

We are also cooking up a singles meet at Ikes to reciprocate with the crushers – dates not yet set and these will be singles only.

Watch the trap app tomorrow regarding practice. Assume practice as usual, unless weather becomes a threat.
